Anthony “Tony” Chriest, 80, of North East passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2020 at his residence. He was born on August 16, 1940 in Erie, Pa., the son of the late Anthony and Mary (Burgess) Chriest. Tony graduated from North East High School in 1958 and was later the owner and operator of grape farms in Westfield, Ripley and North East. He was a member of St. Gregory Thaumaturgus Church, North East Moose Club #2568, the Brotherhood of St. Joseph’s Club, and was an avid golfer. He was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph R. Chriest on January 16, 2020. He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Louise. (Verakis) Chriest; children, Jeannine Thornton (Joe) of Tolland, Connecticut, Carolyn Swenson (Chris) of Tarrytown, N.Y., Michael Chriest (Wendy) of Virginia Beach, Va., David Chriest (Stacy) of Peoria, Ariz., Renee Fuchs (Matthew) of Edinboro, Pa., son-in-law Robert Bennett of North East, Pa., as well as 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Tony leaves behind many beloved relatives and life-long friends. Private funeral arrangements are being handled by the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East. Memorials may be made to Shriners Children’s Hospital 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL, 33607 or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

To the friends and family of Mr. Chriest,
We are truly sad for your loss. Our prayers and thoughts are frequent for those who suffer due to the anguish of losing a loved one. We all experience this loss but the Bible teaches that soon death will end at Revelation 21:3,4
