John J. Kirsch, Jr., age 67, of Erie, passed away peacefully on Saturday June 18, 2016 at UPMC Montefiore Hospital in Pittsburgh.  He was born on June 16, 1949 in Erie, PA the eldest son of the late John Joseph Sr Kirsch (October 13, 1992). and Margaret (Pellman) Kirsch (August 21, 1993).  He was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving in the United States Army Infantry Division.  John was proudly and honorably discharged from the United States Army on April 13, 1970.  He currently was a Disabled Vietnam Veteran and was a lifetime member of the North East V.F.W. Post 4789.  He enjoyed spending time with his family and painting.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Barry Kirsch; and nieces Jennifer Shumac and Cheryl Titus Parkhurst.  John is survived by his daughters, Lisa (Kirsch) Goodrich (Robert) of Thurman, Iowa and Rachel (Kirsch) Herrmann (Donald) of Greene Township; grandchildren, Lauren Zurick (Mike), Justin D. Thornton, Ryan M. Thornton and Parker R. Goodrich; great-grandchildren, Brianna Lear and Austin M. Zurick all of North East; brothers, Wayne F. Kirsch (Linda) of Harborcreek,  Mark Kirsch (Maureen) of Harborcreek; sisters, Patty Titus Francis of Erie, Diane Shumac (Daniel) of Wattsburg, and Connie M. Kirsch of North East; also several nieces, nephews, and friends.  Friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street on Thursday at 5:00 pm till 8:00 pm and are invited to attend a committal service with Full Military Honors on Friday at 1:00 pm at St. Gregory Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the Erie VA Medical Center, 135 E. 38th Street, Erie, PA 16504 or the North East V.F.W. Post 4789, 28 Vine Street, North East, PA 16428.
