George “Gramps” Fisher, age 77, of North East, died on Sunday September 23, 2012 at Twinbrook Medical Center.


He was born on July 26, 1935 in Union City, PA son of the late Lloyd and Gladys Peterson Fisher.


George was employed at Welch Foods, Parkhurst Trucking Company, & was a dedicated worker at Grahamville Cemetery in North East.


He was a member of the North East Loyal Order of Moose Lodge, North East Hunting & Fishing Club, and Brotherhood of St. Joseph.


George enjoyed hunting and NASCAR.


In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Lloyd, Sam, Norm, & James Fisher.


He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Ellen Fisher whom he married March 30, 1954; a son, Edward Fisher (Phyllis); daughters, Mary Jane Cady (Dennis), Cindy Fisher all of North East, and Sandra Stewart (Bill) of Texas; grandchildren, Jennifer Ridilla (Shawn), Jodie Williams (Bob), Denise Pekelnicky (Pete), Bryan Fisher (Sara), Duane Fisher (Diane), Robert Fisher (Larkyn), Michael Fisher (Jennifer), and Melissa Washe (Jeff); great-grandchildren, Emalie, Cecelia, Alex, Caitlyn, Dominic, Lyla, Lindsey, Dillon, and Ellie; also survived by sisters, Violet Lusianno, Betty Elder, Barbara Ransom, and Loretta Breeding; and brother, Tom Fisher.



Friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home 65 South Lake Street North East on Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 and are invited to attend a funeral service on Thursday at 11:00 am at the funeral home.  Officiating Pastor Mary C. Stewart.  Private interment Grahamville Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
