Wilmer J. Roache, age 92, of Ripley, NY passed away on Friday December 15, 2023 at Sarah Reed Senior Living.
He was born on January 2, 1931 in North East, Pennsylvania the son of the late Elton and Gladys (Miller) Roache.
Wilmer was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the United States Army as a mechanic.
Throughout his lifetime, he owned and operated a dairy farm in Ripley, New York.
Wilmer was a member of the Ripley American Legion Post 0351 Charles A. Morehouse Memorial and the Ripley Senior Citizen Center.
He enjoyed hunting, dogs, playing bingo, gardening, and working on tractors.
Wilmer was preceded in death by son, William E. Roache; son-in-law, Gary Wieczorek; daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Roache.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years Joan (Hubbard) Roache whom he married November 21, 1953; daughters, Elizabeth Rotunda of Ripley and Sally Wieczorek of Union City; son, Ernie Roache (Linda) of Findley Lake; grandchildren, Jeff, Mike, Christopher, Jeremy, Eric, Allie, Carey, Ryan, Alyssa, and Adam; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Family and friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East on Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. until time of a funeral service at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Private interment will be held at Quincy Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the South Ripley Fire Department, 10268 NE Sherman Rd, Ripley, NY 14775. Please send condolences to elkinfh.com.
