Veronica "Vera" Janicki Ditch

Veronica "Vera" (Pruchniewski) Janicki Ditch, age 99, of North East, passed away on Saturday July 15, 2023 at her residence. She was born on November 30, 1923 in Erie, PA the daughter of the late Adam and Helen (Zielinski) Pruchniewski and was later raised by her paternal grandmother, Teresa Pruchniewski. Vera graduated from East High School in 1942 and was employed by Giant Eagle in Harborcreek for several years. She was a member of St. Gregory Thaumaturgus Church. Vera was an avid reader and enjoyed playing cards and Bingo. She will be sadly missed by family, friends, and all that loved her. Vera was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Walter John Janicki; second husband, John H. Ditch; and son-in-law, John S. Hoderny. She is survived by her daughters, Rita Bahm (James) of North East and Eileen Hoderny of North East; grandchildren, James J., David, Jason, John, Jennifer, Timothy, Douglas, Patrick, and Philip; 13 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren. A special thank you to Mom's angel caregiver, Sally. Family and friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East on Friday from 12:00 p.m. until time of a Prayer Service at 2:00 p.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Gregory Thaumaturgus Church at 2:30 p.m. Private interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery.
