Timothy L. Bender, age 68, of Wattsburg, passed away on Thursday August 15, 2024 at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on March 23, 1956 in Erie, PA to the late Charles and Jean (Fuller) Bender.
Tim graduated High School and earned an Associates Degree in Purchasing from Mercyhurst University.
He was formerly employed by General Electric as a test technician for over 40 years.
Tim was a long term Wattsburg little league supporter and coached many sports throughout his lifetime.
He loved to be out on his boat, fishing, hunting, racing and restoring cars.
Tim was a "Mr. Fix it", project helper, and enjoyed spending quality time in his garden.
His passion and joy in life were his children and grandchildren which he was deeply proud of.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William Bender; nephew, Michael Bender, and father-in-law, Dayton Eastman.
Tim is survived by his wife of 48 years Cheryl (Eastman) Bender whom he married July 17, 1976; children, Kristy Bunce (Ihab Ragai), Kelly Nies (Jim), and Kyle Bender (Rachel); brother, Doug Bender (Tamara); sister, Judy Yaple; mother-in-law, Etta Eastman; son-in-law, Jim Bunce; grandchildren, Lindsey, Casey, Ava, Jasmine, Cale, Paige, Hazel, Deegan, and Lennon; also many nieces, nephews, and a circle of close friends.
Family and friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. till 5:00 p.m. and are invited to attend a funeral service on Monday at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be held at Lowville Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Erie County Fair at Wattsburg, 13993 State Hwy 8 & 89, Wattsburg, PA 16442 or the Community Nursing Service of North East, 7 Park Street, North East, PA 16428.
