Thomas G. Bolinger, 77, of North East passed away Thursday, March 26, 2026 at his residence.
He was born on July 12, 1948, in Spangler, PA son of the late Herbert Rager and Bernice (Beck) Bolinger Crawford.
Tom was a self-employed truck driver having retired in 2003 and a member of VFW in Ripley.
He was a proud veteran of the Vietnam war, serving in the US Army. While serving, Thomas received the Bronze Star Medal for bravery and devotion to duty. He also received the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign medal, Army Communication Medal and the Soldiers award for his heroism. Tom carried a deep love for his country and was proud of the freedoms he helped protect throughout his life. As the quote mentions “He came home from war and death came with him—Agent Orange, the friendly fire that kept on burning, until the day it claimed his life and he was sent home to his Heavenly Father.”
A hardworking truck driver by trade, Tom found joy in the simple and meaningful things—crafting with his hands in his woodworking shop, caring for animals, and tinkering away as he dreamed up and built his own clever little inventions. Above all, Papa Tom cherished his family, holding a special place in his heart for his grandchildren, who brought him endless pride and happiness. His legacy is one of dedication, creativity, and unwavering love.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather Edward Crawford; stepfather John Bolinger and brother Terry Bolinger. He is survived by his son Jason Stetson; daughter Samantha Mann (Douglas); grandchildren Karlee Stetson, McKynlee Mann and Tobias Mann; brothers Roy Bolinger, Jeff Bolinger, David Bolinger and Steven Bolinger.
Friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East on Tuesday, March 31 from 3:00 pm until the time of funeral service with full military honors at 6:00 pm. Private interment will be held at Quincy Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Please send condolences to elkinfh.com.
