Stephen J Parmarter

Stephen James Parmarter, age 72, of North East, passed away on Tuesday, July 9, at UPMC.

He was born on June 17, 1952 in Los Angeles California, to the late Edward Parmarter and Patricia Arnold Shoup.

A resident of North East since 1974, he attended St. Gregory School in North East. A former manager of Rolling Meadows Park in North East, also formerly employed by several area companies, including Ridg-U-Rak, Lewis MFG., General Electric, ERvite Corporation, and retired from The Electric Materials Company after 21 years of service in 2006. His retirement was due to complications of Agent Orange.

A veteran of the United States Navy, where he completed two tours in Viet Nam as part of the MACV-SOG Special Operations Team, earning multiple decorations, and attaining the rank of Petty Officer 2nd Class. In 1990, at the outbreak of the First Gulf War, he transitioned to the United States Army with the rank of Sergeant. During his eight year tenure, he served as a squad leader in a reconnaissance team, NCOIC of Communications for his company, and also fulfilled duties as a training NCO.

Steve also served the community as a volunteer fireman with Crescent Hose Co., and was among the first EMT’s to be trained and certified in Erie County. He also served as a union steward for UE Local 506 at General Electric, and for UE Local 684 at The Electric Materials Company, where he also served in several positions for the Executive Board.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Gary Lent, adopted at birth,  a cousin, Dawn Marie, who died in an automobile accident in 1970.

He is survived by his wife of twenty-two years, Svetlana Valerievna Nekrasova. He is the 

father of Joshua Parmarter (Jarrod Myers), Amanda Parmarter (Patrick Woodward and their children Kannon and Kael), Julia Nekrasova (husband Shawn Baker and their children Alina and Casey), Katie Parmarter (Jonathan Linder and their children Jazmine and Aria), Andrey Alampiev (wife Rae Lynn and their children Liliyana, Victoria, and Amiliya), Stephen Edward Parmarter, his youngest son, and his Grand Dog, Persie.

A private interment will be held at St. Gregory Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to William D. Elkin Funeral Home, located at 65 South Lake Street, North East, PA 16428.
