Ross Owens Obituary

Ross A. Owens, age 87, of North East, passed away on Friday October 5, 2024 at UPMC Hamot.

He was born on November 26, 1936 in Erie, Pennsylvania to the late John and Anna (Schelhamer) Owens. 

Ross attended Tech School and served in the United States Army.

He was a proud grape farmer in Harborcreek and was employed by Electric Materials in North East until retirement.

He was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Church where he served on the church finance committee and was active in church festivals, Knights of Columbus, and Curcillo.

Ross was a devoted family man and loved people. He enjoyed working in his grape vineyards, woodcarving, outdoors, fishing, playing cards, bowling, and watching sports.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harold Owens; and sisters, Marylyn Sundquist, Audrey Freeman, and Ethel Jones.

Ross is survived by his wife of 66 years Diane M. (Scheu) Owens whom he married April 26, 1958; son, Rick Owens of North East; daughter, Kathy Fuller of North East; grandson, Rodney Fuller of North East; and twin brother, Richard Owens of Erie.

Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Mass on Friday October 11th at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Church, 837 Bartlett Road, Harborcreek. Private interment will be held at St. Gregory Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Mercy Church, 837 Bartlett Road, Harborcreek, PA 16421 or to the charity of one's choice.
