Robert E Russell

Robert E. Russell, Jr., age 72, of North East, died peacefully on Wednesday August 18, 2021 surrounded by his family at home.  He was born on May 24, 1949 in Indiana, Pennsylvania to Robert E. Russell, Sr. and the late Frances Ellen (Crossman) Russell.  Robert graduated North East High School in 1967 and served in the United States Navy as an aircraft mechanic.  During his military career he was chosen to stand as one of the Honor Guards at President Eisenhower's funeral.  He was formerly employed as a supervisor at Electric Materials in North East.  He enjoyed race car driving, hunting, and fishing.  Robert is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lilly (Farmer) Russell, whom he married November 9, 1968; children, Wendy Thomson (Steve) of Houston, Texas, Robert E. Russell III (Christine) of Harborcreek, and Wesley Russell (Heather) of North East; sisters, Carol Stanford (Pete) of FL, Patty Groves (Eugene) of North East, Cindy Combs (Darell) of Union City, and Mary Ellen Davis (Randy) of Indiana; grandchildren, Christian, Shelby, Cora, Lucas, Hailey, Abby, Connor, and Travis; great-grandchildren, Zephyr, Grayson, and Jaxson; and several aunts, nieces, nephews, and cousins.  Friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until time of a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Officiating the service is Rev. Marvin Hutchinson.  Interment will be held at Grahamville Cemetery with Full Military Honors.  Memorials may be made to the 4 N.I.N.E Thrift Store, 49 Smedley Street, North East, PA 16428 or the North East Food Pantry 30 Bothel Street, North East, PA 16428.
