Robert S. Ford, age 89, of North East, passed away on Saturday February 4, 2023 at UPMC Hamot. He was born on December 4, 1933 in Erie, Pennsylvania the son of the late Samuel and Irene (Strohmeyer) Ford. Bob was a veteran of the the United States Army and was a member of the North East American Legion Post 105, holding the position of Adjutant. He was a volunteer driver for the VA. He graduated from Strong Vincent High School and Edinboro University earning a Bachelors of Science degree in Physical Science. He was employed as a math teacher for North East and Sherman Central School Districts, retiring in 1991 after many years. Bob was passionate about sports. He coached Basketball, Baseball, and Track and Field. He was inducted into the North East Athletics Hall of Fame for coaching the 1964 PA State Championship Track Team. He also served as coach for the North East Swim Club. Bob also served as Officials for PIAA Swimming and for New York State Track and Field. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Harrison Ford, Richard Ford, Charles Ford and Paul Ford; sisters, Patricia Santini and Virginia Boucher; and daughter-in-law, Kathleen (Miller) Ford. Bob is survived by his wife of 64 years, Mary (Langdon) Ford whom he married May 30, 1959; children, Kathryn Stutzman of Richmond, VA, Christopher Scott Ford of Harborcreek, Virginia Milikich (Michael) of Round Rock, Texas, and Mark Ford (Melissa) of Manlius, NY; grandchildren, Megan, Caitlin, Nicholas, Hannah, Cassidy, and Charlotte; great-grandchildren, Ryleigh, Rori, Declan, Keegan, and Macy; also several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East on Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and are invited to attend a funeral service on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Full Military Honors.
