Rev. Robert R. Shettler, age 82, of Madison, Ohio, formerly of North East, passed away on Wednesday September 20, 2023 at Ames Family Hospice.
He was born on February 17, 1941 in Kane, PA the son of the late Charles L. and Lois E. (Emmons) Shettler.
Bob graduated from Corry High School in 1959, Mercyhurst College, and Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington D.C. where he earned a degree in Theological Studies.
He was a member of the Western PA Methodist Conference, Kiwanis Erie Club, Hospice Boards, and Wesley Woods Camp Board of Directors.
He served as pastor for several churches throughout Western Pennsylvania.
Bob loved the Lord and praying for others. He was kind, caring, loving, and a had a wonderful sense of humor. Bob will be sadly missed by his family and friends...but remember what Bob always said, "God loves you and so do I".
Bob was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Leah Shettler of 56 years; son; William C. Shettler; and brother, Ernest A. Shettler.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene (Akam) Shettler whom he married April 23, 2016; daughter, Elizabeth A. Shimshock (John) of Pittsburgh; son Mark R. Shettler (Cathy) of Harborcreek; step-daughter, Debbi Menser and her family of Ohio; grandchildren, Sara Smith of Michigan, Elisabeth Miller (Kenny) of Michigan, Joshua Shettler (Janette) of Harborcreek, Rebecca Reed of TN, and Austin Shettler (Amanda) of Edinboro; great-grandchildren, Kristina, Rayna, Sierra, Aaliyah, Mya, Karter, and Jaxson; and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East on Sunday from 1:00 pm until time of a Funeral Service at 4:00 pm at the funeral home. Officiating the service is Rev. Mark Shettler. Memorials may be made to the Madison Senior Center, 2938 Hubbard Road, Madison, Ohio 44057. Please send condolences to elkinfh.com.
