Penny De Ann (Blankenship) Johnson

Penny De Ann Blankenship Johnson, 59, of North East, daughter of Barbara Shepard and the late Ernest ‘Ernie’ F. Blankenship passed from this life into the arms of Jesus on Thursday, May 25th in North East, PA. She leaves behind her husband of 32 years, Robert A Johnson, Jr.; two children and children by Love, Matthew D. Johnson (Hannah) and Melissa D. Johnson Sutter (Andrew); one granddaughter Guinevere Sutter with a cousin on the way; a brother, Ernest Duane Blankenship; Mom-in-Love, Donna Johnson Zimmer and the late Don Zimmer; Sister-in Loves, Darcie Johnson
(Jen Palotsee) and Leah Johnson Tingue (Jason); Brother-in-Loves, Mark Johnson and Chris Johnson; a 2nd Mom, Margie Moreno and her family; uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many amazing friends (like family) all across this nation.

Penny cheerfully volunteered in many non-profits like the Southern Tier Pregnancy Care Center as Treasurer; Greater Olean Area Council of Churches as Secretary/Treasurer; Warmth Consortium; W.E.W. “Women Encouraging Women”, a group of several churches that desired to serve the Olean, NY community; her children’s two Christian schools; Common Ground Youth Center as Secretary; North East Area Council of Churches; Salvation Army North East Service Unit as Human Services Secretary; and created the Powerful Pink Warriors Team under the American Cancer Soci- ety ‘Making Strides Against Breast Cancer’ as Team Leader. She loved God with all her heart, mind, and soul and loved talking to people about Him and encouraging them how much He loves them! During her two journeys with Triple Negative Breast Cancer, she made weekly ‘Monday Motivational Moments’ videos on Facebook to encourage people walking through storms of their own. In 2022, Penny was honored as one of the “Dynamic Dozen Women Making History’ through Mercy Center for Women.

A “Celebration of Life” ceremony will be held from Noon till 5PM at Gravel Pit Park – Pavilion D in North East, PA on Sunday June 11th. Penny desired, more than anything, that everyone would see her again in Heaven!
