Penny Ann (Lipnickey) Hitchcock, age 78, of North East, passed away on Monday, April 14, 2025 at Nightingale Nursing Home.
She was born on September 25, 1946 in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania to the late Joseph and Mary (Miller) Lipnickey.
Penny graduated from St. Gregory High School in 1964 and attended Slippery Rock University.
She was formerly employed as a cashier at IGA Grocery and was a receptionist at Nova Care in North East for 20 years until retirement.
Penny was a member of St. Gregory Thaumaturgus Church in North East.
She enjoyed spending time with friends, bowling, cards, and reading.
Penny was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, John, Terry, and William Lipnickey.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years Robert Hitchcock whom she married February 24, 1968; sons, Steve Hitchcock of St. Paul, Minnesota and Robert Hitchcock, Jr. of North East; grandchildren, Ren and Leah Hitchcock of St. Paul Minnesota; sister, Victoria Lipnickey of Cleveland, OH; brothers, Jim Lipnickey (Susan) of Oxford, OH and Gary Lipnickey (Bonnie) of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho; sister-in-laws, Margaret Lipnickey of Pittsford, NY and Diane Lipnickey of Canandaigua, NY; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East on Wednesday April 16th from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until time of a prayer service at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a Funeral Service at St. Gregory Church, 48 South Pearl Street, North East. Interment will be held at St. Gregory Cemetery. Memorials may be made to St. Gregory Church 136 West Main Street, North East, PA 16428 or the Anna Shelter, 1555 East 10th Street, Erie, PA 16511.
