Pauline May (Smith) Beard

Pauline May Smith Beard, age 54, of Spartansburg, PA, passed away on Friday May 13, 2022 at UPMC Hamot. She was born on September 13, 1967 in Erie, Pennsylvania the daughter of Ruth (Gorton) Fisher and the late Floyd Blankenship. Pauline graduated Seneca High School and was formerly employed as a Certified Nurses Aide in the healthcare profession for over 30 years. During her CNA career she cared in several places including Brevillier Village, Erie Home for Children and Adults, Corry Manor, and several in-home health care agencies just to name a few. Pauline's hobbies included crocheting, raising poultry, gardening, canning, online auctioning, and her all-time favorite pastime was spending time with her grandkids. Pauline had a pure soul and only ever wanted the best for everyone. She never failed to let friends and family know how proud she was of them. She was continuously thankful for whatever individuals did for her. She was kind-hearted and absolutely loved caring for others and always put everyone else's needs before her own. Throughout her lifetime, Pauline was an extremely caring person; especially for her kids and grandkids. She was preceded in death by her sister, Audrey Diane Gorton and brother, Matthew Smith. Pauline is survived by her husband John Beard whom she married July 23, 2011; sons, Nicholas Desin (Amanda) of Dayton, OH and Justin Desin of Erie; daughter, Marisa Desin of Spartansburg, PA; step-sons, Johnny Beard (Jodie) of Wakeforest, NC, Gerad Beard (Ariel) of Corry, and Qwinn Beard (Amanda) of Corry; sisters, Nancy Whitney and Audrey Gaerttner both of North East, Marie Gorton of Erie; brother, William Blankenship of Easley, SC; 11 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East on Friday from 3:00 P.M. up until a Time of Remembrance at 6:00 P.M. Memorials may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
