Michael Wilson Alcorn

Michael Wilson Alcorn, age 81, of North East, PA passed away peacefully at home on Saturday August 26, 2023 surrounded by his family. He was born on July 4, 1942 in Erie, PA, son of the late Dr. Lemuel C. and Ruth A. (Wilson) Alcorn. Michael graduated from North East High School in 1961, where he met his future wife, at the young age of 16. He was nominated as "best dancer" his senior year, and loved dancing with his high school sweetheart, whom he adored with all his heart. Michael was formerly employed by General Electric where he moved locomotives and later was a computer draftsman, retiring at the age 55 in 1998, after being employed for 36 years. After retirement, Michael worked part time building houses with his wife's nephew, and also spent many hours remodeling his daughters home. During retirement Michael and his wife enjoyed spending time with family and friends, while living in Frostproof, FL., during the winter months. In his earlier years he was a member of the North East Jaycees and also a swimming and diving official for the North East YMCA swim team. In addition to his wife, his greatest joys and what he loved the most was spending time with his children and grandchildren, he will be very sadly missed by each of them. Michael had the ability to bring a smile and a laugh to everyone's face. He was a wonderful grandpa and papa who was always supportive in every way, and always available for their every need. In his most recent years he was the greatest and most attentive caregiver to his loving wife. He was also the best problem solver and builder of dreams for anyone who ever needed a helping hand. Michael is survived by his wife of 61 years, Bonnie (Salen) Alcorn, whom he married on November 3, 1962; also his beloved children, daughter Debra D. Alcorn and husband Scott DeVore, and son Michael E. Alcorn and wife Anne; 9 grandchildren, Michael (Katherine), Dylan (Emily), Noelle, Zane, Taeler, Ava, Stephen, Kirsten, and Matthew; 6 great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Harrison, Robin, Teigan, Rosalind, and Hildegard; he is also survived by his sister, Carole Pulling; and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East, PA on Wednesday, August 30th from 3:00 p.m. till 6:00 p.m., followed by a reception at the North East Moose Lodge, 12080 East Main Street, North East, PA. A private burial will be held at the North East Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the North East Fire Department, P.O.
