Obituary

Michael S. Abata, age 70, of North East, passed away on Tuesday August 8, 2023 at St. Vincent Hospital. He was born on January 20, 1953 in Erie, PA the son of the late Samuel and Virginia (Vaccaro) Abata. Mike graduated from North East High School in 1970 and was formerly the owner and operator of Skippereno's Pizza and Skip's Place. He loved spending time with his family and was an avid New York Yankees fan. Mike will be sadly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sally (Lewis) Abata whom he married August 19, 1972; children, Jason Abata of North East, Stephanie Adams (Tim) of North East, and Vincent Abata (Jill) of Millcreek; siblings, Joseph Abata of Edinboro and Marcia Orschek (Tom) of Cheektowaga, NY; grandchildren, Cherokee, Kaitlyn, Nathan, Cory, Cora, Lucas, Samuel, Michael, Gianna, Hannah, and Anthony; and great-grandchildren, Rogue, Roman, Curtis, and Hazel. Friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East on Sunday from 1:00 p.m. until time of a Funeral Service at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Private interment will be held at St. Gregory Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Community Nursing Services of North East, 7 Park Street, North East, PA 16428.
