Matthew Howard Gregory

Matthew Howard Gregory, age 30, of Waterford and North East, died on Wednesday March 9, 2022 at his residence. He was born on March 16, 1991 in Erie, PA the son of Steve L. and Bridget (Yori) Gregory. Matthew attended North East High School and graduated with honors. He loved the sport of wrestling and competed in the North East Ragin Raisins and North East High School Wrestling Teams. During his time in wrestling, Matthew wrestled on two occasion at the Pennsylvania State Championship and was twice named to the Pennsylvania Wrestling Academic First Team. He attended Hawaii Pacific University and grad- uated from Edinboro University with honor’s in biology. Matthew was presently attending D’Youville University studying to be a Doctor of Chiropractic Medicine which was his lifetime goal. His greatest love was standing in a stream with his dogs in pursuit of those elusive fish. His humor and smile were his trademark along with his love of family, fishing, and animals. Matthew was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Carrie(Chimera)Yori; and paternal grandparents, Howard and Isabelle Gregory. He is survived by his parents; siblings, Joe Rizzo (Amanda), Michael Rizzo (Kim), Kayla Perdue (Al), brother and best friend, Glenn Gregory; and several aunts, uncles, 12 nieces and nephews, and cousins. Matthew will also be sadly missed by his four legged friends, Bear, Max, Luna, and Jack. Friends and family may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. and are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Officiating the service is Fr. Thomas Brooks. Interment will be held at St. Gregory Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Matthew Gregory Scholarship Fund, C/O Sam Rizzo, 30 Center Street, North East, PA 16428.
