Mary "Kitty" (Siegel) Hurlburt

Mary "Kitty" (Siegel) Hurlburt, age 78, of North East, passed away on Sunday August 27, 2023 at St. Vincent Hospital. She was born on February 14, 1945 in Erie, PA the daughter of the late William and Jean (Underwood) Siegel. Kitty obtained a Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education from Mercyhurst College and a Masters Degree in Education from Edinboro College. She was formerly employed as an elementary teacher for 31 years at Wattsburg Area School District, where she was presented with the Golden Apple Award. Kitty was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in North East and also an active volunteer at numerous charities. She loved gardening, golfing, horses and anything chocolate! She was an active member at Lakeview Country Club where she scored a hole in one Jan 11, 2012. Kitty will be sadly missed by her family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 20 years, Vern Hurlburt, the love of her life, whom she married on June 14, 2003; children, Ed Redinger (Debbie) of Girard and W. Scott Redinger (Cindy) of Erie; brother, William Siegel of Florence, AL; grandchildren, Michaela Zentis (Jonathan), Matthew Redinger, Jessica Redinger, and Kaitlyn Redinger; extended family; Michelle Lauffenburger (Vance), Kelly Bonomo (John), Randy Hurlburt (Willow), Lee Burch (Tim), Lyn Kress (Jamie); 13 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and some very special cousins. Family and friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street on Thursday from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 25 West Main Street, North East.
