Mary Lou (Truchanowicz) Schnell

Mary Lou (Truchanowicz) Schnell, age 76, of North East, passed away on Thursday March 6, 2025 at UPMC Hamot.

She was born on November 30, 1948 in Erie, Pennsylvania to the late John and Elma (Jewell) Truchanowicz.

Mary Lou graduated from East High School in 1967 and worked as a pharmacy tech at Giant Eagle Pharmacy in Harborcreek and a housekeeper at the Days Inn in Erie.

She was a member of State Line United Methodist Church and was awarded by North East in Bloom for her beautiful gardens.

Mary Lou enjoyed gardening, butterfly releases, bowling, shopping, car rides, and collecting glass frogs and birds. She will be sadly missed by all that loved her.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, Edward Truchanowicz, Sr.

Mary Lou is survived by her husband of 47 years Theodore E. Schnell, Sr. whom she married November 4, 1978; children, Ron Thornton (Tina); Ted Schnell, Jr. (Irene), Tom Schnell; and Brenda Maier; sister, Sandra Vercillo (Ernesto, Sr.) several grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Private funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East. Private interment will be held at North East Cemetery.
