Margaret "Peg" (Van Guilder) Ongley, 101, formerly of North East passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at Saint Mary's at Asbury Ridge.
She was born on June 10, 1924 at her home in Grand Valley, PA to the late Benton and Gertrude (Putnam) Van Guilder.
Peg graduate from Youngsville High School in 1942, and attended Houghton College in Houghton, NY.
She was formerly employed as a secretary at Hill Engineering in North East for 20 years until retirement.
Peg was a faithful member of the North East Alliance Church where she served as head deaconess and in many other capacities throughout the years. She was known for her hospitality and intentional care for people in need.
In 2015, Peg entered St. Mary's Asbury Ridge for care. Through the years she made many friends with residents and staff.
She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband of 66 years; Clarence Ongley; brother, Arthur Lewis Van Guilder; and sisters, Josephine Pearce and Dorothy Chappel.
Peg is survived by her children, Gary Ongley (Martha) of Burleson, TX, Karen Barraco (Al) of Muncy, PA, and Mark Ongley (Lauri) of Beaver Falls, PA; 8 grandchildren,11 great-grandchildren, and many great-great grandchildren. She was also cherished by her nieces and nephews.
Friends and family may call at the North East Alliance Church on Saturday, May 2nd at 12:30 p.m. until time of a funeral service at 1:30 p.m. at the church. Officiating the service is Pastor Marvin Hutchison. Private interment will be held at Sanford Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the North East Alliance Church, 81 East Main Street, North East, PA 16428. Funeral arrangement have been entrusted to the William D.
