Livia Sanfilippo Pampalone, age 89 of North East passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at UPMC Hamot.
She was born in Erie PA on December 31,1934 to the late Anthony J. and Elizabeth Pace Sanfilippo. Livia graduated from St Gregory High School in 1952 and was a switchboard operator at the Richardson Hotel. She was a lifelong member of St Gregory Church. On February 24, 1968 she married her husband Philip Pampalone.
Livia lived for her family and showed her love through her fabulous Italian cooking and baked goods. She cherished family dinners at her house surrounded by her husband, children and grandchildren. She loved the performing arts and enjoyed attending shows and concerts. In addition, she enjoyed shopping, listening to music, and taking rides to Freeport and Presque Isle beaches to see the sunsets.
Livia was preceeded in death by her parents; three brothers, Nick, Joe, and Tony Sanfilippo; one sister, Mary Sorth; three sisters-in-law, Lillian, Irene, and Eileen Sanfilippo; and one brother-in-law, Kenneth Sorth.
Survivors include her beloved husband of 55 years; two children, Vincent Pampalone (Kelly) of Murrysville PA and Dina Hathaway (Brian) of North East. Livia is also survived by five grandchildren – Julia Hoffner (Josh), Emily Hathaway (Alex), Ryan Hathaway, Matthew Pampalone, and Angela Pampalone. She will also be missed by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Family and friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 S. Lake St, North East on Friday from 4:00-7:00 and are invited to attend a prayer service on Saturday at 10:00 am at the funeral home followed by a funeral mass at 10:30 am at St. Gregory Church, North East. Private burial for the family at St. Gregory Cemetery.
