Leon Anthony Duda Jr. went to our Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 28th, 2021, surrounded by his family, after a lengthy illness. Leon is the son of the late Leon and Anna (Mokwa) Duda. He attended Wattsburg Schools and helped on their family’s farm before working at Electric Materials for a short time then finding his home at General Electric, where he retired on October 31, 2000, after 35 years of service. He was drafted into the U.S. Army to serve in the Vietnam War and after his return to the states he married his ex-wife, Margaret and raised their daughters Lisa Duda-Henry (Donald) and Michelle Duda. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting and fishing, but most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren; some of his granddaughter, Danielle Bisbee’s, favorite memories are of the time they spent together on dance class days sharing special time together. Leon was previously a member of Greenfield Fire Department. He enjoyed attending their square dances and going to turkey shoots there as well as going to any gun raffle. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Bernard Duda, Thaddeus Duda; a sister, Catherine McMillen; a granddaughter, Ashley Bisbee; and a son-in-law, Jesus Molina. In addition to his daughters, he is survived by two brothers, Frank (Brenda) Duda and Richard (Melissa) Duda; a sister-in-law, Marianne Duda; all of North East; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and dear friends, Tommy and Lynn. The family would like to express heart felt gratitude to Tommy Williams and Lynn Bisbee for caring for Leon for many year and adoring him as they did. Friends and family may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East, on Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Interment will be held at a later date at St. Gregory’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in his name to the Greenfield Fire Department, 10160 Station Rd., North East, PA 16428, or the North East Community Nurses, 7 Park St., North East, PA 16428, who have been of great help to him over these last few years.
