Lawrence P. Erickson, age 85, of North East, passed away on Wednesday August 25, 2021 at Twinbrook Healthcare.
He was born on June 15, 1936 in Platea, Pennsylvania the son of the late Oscar and Mary (Vojtko) Erickson.
Larry attended St. John's Parochial School in Girard, PA and graduated from Girard High School.
He was formerly employed by the Nickel Plate Railroad which eventually became part of the CSX Railroad System.
There he worked as a railroad Signalman and Maintainer for 45 years and 3 days.
He was always a hard worker and very dedicated to his job.
After retirement, he worked as a greeter at the Harborcreek Walmart.
Larry was a very avid fan of NASCAR and attended many many races throughout the country.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ethel Laughery Erickson; son, Christopher S. Erickson;
sisters, Winniferd Smith, Lillian McIntyre, and Lenore Potter; brothers, Jesse, Carl, and Gilbert Erickson.
Larry is survived by his wife of 22 years, Wanda (Brown) Erickson whom he married February 13, 1999;
children, Lawrence P. Erickson, Jr., Holly Jean Erickson, Susan Whiteman, Kimberly Edgett, and Teresa Chase; a brother, Edward Erickson;
and grandchildren, Natalie Carter, Ryan Whiteman, Kyle Whiteman, Nathaniel Edgett, Patrick and Robert;
and former wife, Audrey Erickson-Natcher. A graveside service will be announced at a later date.
Interment will be held at East Ripley Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are being handled by the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East.
