Laura (Burgess) Lick

Our precious mother & grandma, Laura Burgess Lick, 98, passed away peacefully, on Saturday, August 26, 2023. Born on July 11, 1925, she devoted her life to her family. Mom was a gifted artist and enjoyed making the world a more beautiful place, whether it was her cheerful gardens or an encouraging smile or word. She was a woman of quiet goodness.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 53 years, George Mackay Lick. She was the youngest daughter of the late Walter C. (Florence Walker) Burgess of Ripley, NY. Also, preceded were her two sisters, Marie (Ralph) McCutcheon and Jean (Charles) Schell of Belleville, Michigan. She is survived by her daughter, Susan (Daniel) Chase of Girard, PA. Two grandchildren, Brian (Stephanie) Chase of Girard, PA and Kelly (Robert) Misevski of Orchard Park, NY. Four great-grandchildren; Morgan Chase, Kayla, Owen and Makenna Misevski.

Mom never wanted to be the center of attention, so her service will be private for family members only. Friends wishing to honor Mom are invited to make a memorial in her name to the Ripley Hose Co. #1, Ambulance Fund, 11 South State Street, Ripley, NY 14775.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East, PA 16428. Private burial will be at North East Cemetery. Please send condolences to elkinfh.com.
