Joyce J (Finn) Thompson

Joyce J. (Finn) Thompson, age 85, of North East peacefully went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday August 8, 2021 at her residence.  She was born on February 15, 1936 in North East the daughter of the late Lawrence James and Fern (Way) Finn.  Joyce graduated North East High School in 1956 and grew up on the Finn family farm.  She was formerly employed by The Sunshine Cherry Plant in Ripley, North East Church of God Day Care Center, North East Senior Home Care, Lakeview Country Club, Bova's Restaurant, and volunteered at the North East Senior Center.  Joyce was a faithful servant of the Lord and was an active member of the former North East Church of God and presently the Orchard Beach Assembly Church.  Joyce was a kind, caring, and compassionate person.  She loved the Lord and her family and friends with all her heart. She was a vibrant, colorful person who always offered words of encouragement too many individuals throughout her lifetime.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Thompson; a sister, Ruth Oleshack; and brothers, Mickey Finn, Lee Finn, Robert, Finn, and Clifton (Bud) Bemis. Joyce is survived by her children, Kenneth Thompson (Ann Laurine) of Erie, Jim Thompson (Kim) of North East, and Lauri Daley (Herman) of North East; a favored sister-in-law, Sonja Bemis; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.  Friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. and are invited to attend a funeral service on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the Orchard Beach Assembly Church, 2025 Orchard Beach Road, North East. Officiating the service is Rev. Troy Keith.  Interment will be held at West Mina Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the Orchard Beach Assembly Church or the North East Senior Center.  Please send condolences to elkinfh.com.
