John Stephen Hoderny, 70, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, December 26, 2021. John passed away at his residence in North East, PA. He was surrounded by his family at the time of his passing. John was the husband of Eileen M. (Janicki) Hoderny. Together the couple shared 49 years of marriage.John was born on November 14, 1951 in Erie, PA, a son of Dorothy (Szulc) Hoderny and the late John F. Hoderny.
John was the model of a good and faithful servant, striving to be like Christ showing God’s love and kindness to others. He always lived what he believed, studying scripture and seeking God’s wisdom for guidance. John loved his family, his Polish heritage, hunting and fishing, and anything associated with freedom and liberty. A true patriot, he raised two U.S. Marines and one Soldier. He served as a camp counselor and speaker at Camp Constitution summer camps for over 40 years. John was also a youth baseball coach and coached his children and grandchildren for over 20 years.
In addition to his wife, John is survived by children, John (Nicole) Hoderny of Doylestown, PA; Jennifer Britt of North East, PA, Timothy (Janelle) Hoderny of North East, PA, Douglas (Jennifer) Hoderny of Lexington, SC, Patrick Hoderny of Harborcreek, PA and Philip (Heather) Hoderny of Valdosta, GA; grandchildren John, Nolan and Brynn Hoderny, AJ Caldwell, Jordan Britt and Kresson Britt, Brandon Hoderny, and Philip Hoderny; great-grandchildren Kyleen, Ashlyn, and Dallas; siblings Gary Hoderny of Erie, PA and Lois Lintelman of Erie, PA. John was preceded in death by his father and sister-in-law Jennifer (Hughes) Hoderny.
Friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East, on Thursday, December 30th from 5:00 pm until the time of a memorial service at 7:00 pm.
