John William Byers

John William Byers, age 63, of Columbus, PA passed away on Thursday March 20, 2025 at Corry Memorial Hospital.

He was born on August 25, 1961 in Erie, Pennsylvania to the late Charles Elmer and Ella (Smeal) Byers.

John graduated from Clymer Central High School in 1979 and was a veteran of Desert Storm serving in the United States Navy for 20 years.

He was formerly employed at Ellwood National Forge in the maintenance department for several years.

Country and family was everything to John. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing chess and going on walks with his dog. He will be sadly missed by all who loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sarah Falls; nephew, David Byers; father and mother-in-law, Ed Crawford and Joan Baker; step-father in-law, Orin Baker; sister-in-law, Cindy Seiter.

John is survived by his wife of 43 years Lori Crawford Byers whom he married March 27, 1981; children, Joanna Yamoune, Chris Byers, Sasha Pratt (Jeremy), and Jeremy Byers; granddaughter, Jazmyn Byers; siblings Donna Woodard (Tim), Patty Jaquith, Dallas Ortel, Jeff Byers, Sharon Byers, Susan Alcorn (James), Mary Byers, Ellen Byers, sister-in-laws, Pamela Lidlow, Cathy Hanson, Cheryl Farnham (James), Belinda Rudenski (Rick), and Alison Bolinger (Jeff); and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Private funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East. Private interment North East Cemetery.
