Jeffrey Mead Obituary

Jeffrey Charles Mead, age 78, of North East, died on Friday August 5, 2022 at UPMC Hamot after a brief illness. He was born on April 9, 1944 in Erie, Pennsylvania the son of the late Raymond Ulysses and Sarah (Kunkle) Mead. Jeff graduated from North East High School in 1962, attended Alfred University, and served in the United States Army Reserves. He owned and operated Mead Vineyards in the North East and Westfield areas, it was his life’s work. Jeff was a member of the North East F&AM Lodge #399, North East American Legion Post 105, North East Moose Lodge #2568, and the Erie Maennerchor Club. He loved spending time with his family and was an avid Penn State and Pittsburgh Steeler fan. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Jane (Archer) Mead whom he married January 10, 1992; daughters, Wendy Hammond (Neil Cameron), Heather Yerage (Charlie), Megan Mead (Young Kwon), and Erin Beerbower (Matt Lines); sisters, Susan Baker (John) and Judith Reber (Richard); grandchildren, Teagan, Theo, Brinley, Nathaniel, Finn, Hudson, and Nylee; also several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call at the Park United Methodist Church on Sunday August 14th at 1:00 P.M. until time of the Celebration of Life Service at 2:30 P.M. Officiating the service is Pastor Eric Leonard. Private interment will be held at North East Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Park United Methodist Church, 30 North Lake Street, North East, PA 16428 or the Erie Shriners Children's Medical Center, 1645 West 8th Street, Erie, PA 16505.
