With broken hearts, we share the passing of Jason Somerville, who left us on October 10, 2025, after a long and difficult battle with demons that too often felt stronger than the light he carried inside. Though his struggle was heavy, his heart remained kind, generous, and full of love until the end.
Jason was a son, father, brother, and friend whose compassion knew no limits. He would give the shirt off his back, offer his last dollar, or stop whatever he was doing to help someone else, no questions asked. His laughter could fill a room, and his smile could make even the hardest days a little easier.
He loved his family deeply and worked hard to be there for those he cared about. Even through his darkest days, he was the one others could count on for a helping hand, a good laugh, or a few words of encouragement.
Though the battle took him from us too soon, it does not define who he was. He was love. He was kindness. He was strength, even when he couldn’t see it himself.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, David Yost.
He is survived by his parents, Keith (Dolores) Somerville and Kimberly (Yost) Somerville; his children, Tanner Smiley and Andrew Somerville; his grandmother, Nancy Yost; his siblings, Christopher, Missy, and Amber Somerville, Rodney Vera, Tanesha Waltman, and Erin and Matthew Bilski; and countless friends and family who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
Private funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street North East. Please send condolences to elkinfh.com.
