James Ramsdell, age 96, of North East, PA passed away peacefully at home on Friday, September 27th, 2024.
Jim was born in Union City, PA on August 20th, 1928, the son of John B. Ramsdell and Edith (Peterson) Ramsdell.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty (Joe) Brown and Hazel (Oliver) Daniels; and four brothers John Ramsdell (Donna), Roger Ramsdell (Joanne), Lloyd Ramsdell (Jeanette) and Lee Ramsdell (Ruthie).
Jim was a proud, honest, hard-working man who always put his family first. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend.
He is survived by his loving wife Dorothy (Johnson) to whom he was happily married for 71 wonderful years, and his children James D. Ramsdell (Ellen), Dale (Rich) Gregory, and Susan (Sid) Green. He also leaves behind his five grandchildren Matthew Ramsdell (Julia), Christopher Ramsdell (Erika), Steven Tirpak, Morgan (Mike) Knabe, and Nicole Tirpak, as well as eight great-grandchildren Tyler, Abby, James, Eliza, Gabriel, Peyton, Lincoln and Sam.
Jim was a graduate of Wattsburg High School, a U.S. Army veteran and was employed by Hammermill Paper Company for forty years. He was a member of St. Gregory's Church and belonged to the VFW and American Legion.
As per Jim's wishes, private arrangements will be handled by Elkins Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Greenfield Volunteer Fire Company or the American Legion.
