James Mankoski Obituary

NORTH EAST - James Leonard Mankoski, 79, of North East, PA went to be at home with the Lord on Friday, December 17, 2021 at his residence. He was born on May 9, 1942 in Erie, PA, the son of the late Leonard and Margaret (Kostur) Mankoski. James lived in North East for the past 24 years and attended Holy Family School, Prep High School, and later graduated from East High School. He served in the United States Army Medical Corps and was a dedicated worker at Mark’s Toys, a Pharmacy Assistant at UPMC Hamot, Painter at General Electric, and was employed by Harborcreek Family Practice. Jim was a member of Holy Family Church, where he served as an usher for many years. He was presently a member of St. Gregory Thauma- turgus Church where he participated in the Cursillo Movement. When Jim was younger, he enjoyed traveling with his wife, Elaine, the love of his life for 54 years. They, along with their family, ventured to several favorite lo- cations which included beaches, mountains, Cedar Point Amusement Park, Walt Disney World, and to their son, Michael’s. He also enjoyed collecting presidential cards and coins, specifically of State National Parks. Jim also loved music, collecting records, and shared this love with his family. There’s nothing he loved more than being with his family and friends; he will be missed by all who had the privilege to know him. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Michael David Mankoski; brother, Tim Mankoski and brother-in-laws, Tom Viscuso and Louis Viscuso. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Elaine (Viscuso) Mankoski, whom he married on August 26, 1967; son, Tony Mankoski; daughter, Denise Divins (Steve); brother, Bill Mankoski; sister, Jeri Easterday (Gary); grandchildren, Anthony, Kyle, Andrew, Maddie, Michael, and Ryan; great-grandchildren, Kaiden, Kingston, and Keon; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
