Grace Bondanella

NORTH EAST - Grace Muscarella Bondanella, age 101, passed away peacefully on Monday October 17, 2022 at her residence. She was born on November 12, 1920 in North East, Pennsylvania the daughter of the late Loreto and Anna (Giambrone) Muscarella. Grace graduated from North East High School where she was awarded class Valedictorian and later attended Villa Maria College. She was formerly employed by General Electric and as a secretary at Taccone Corporation for many years. Grace was also the bookkeeper and accountant at the Brotherhood of St. Joseph Club, North East Athletic Club, and Millco Manufacturing, retiring in 1982. She was a life- time member of St. Gregory Thaumaturgus Catholic Church, a charter member of the St. Gregory Ladies Auxiliary, North East Senior Center, and a former member of the St. Joseph Ladies Bowling Team. She enjoyed attending concerts at the Chautauqua Institution and the Cleveland Opera House. Grace was known for her hospitality and delicious meals, including traditional Sicilian specialties. Grace had a kind, gentle, and loving spirit and will be sadly missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John J. Bondanella (1971); daughter, Marygrace Kelley Kisiel; infant brother, Loreto Muscarella, brothers, Paul Muscarella and Sam Muscarella; and sisters, Margaret Triana and Mary Palermo. Grace is survived by her sons, John R. Bondanella (Diana) of Fairfax, Virginia and Joseph L. Bondanella (Janet) of North East; daughter, Ann M. Filutze (Samuel R.) of North East; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East on Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. and are invited to attend a Prayer Service on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Gregory Thaumaturgus Church, 50 South Pearl Street, North East. Interment will be held at St. Gregory Cemetery.
