Evelyn Brooks

Evelyn Catherine (Kitty) Whitesell McCurdy Glasser Brooks, 85, passed away peacefully at Fairview Manor, Erie PA on Friday, January 9, 2026, surrounded by her family. Kitty was a beloved mother, cherished friend, and devoted to her family and Christian faith.

She was born May 12, 1939 in Cokeville, PA to Evelyn and Claire Whitesell. Kitty moved with her family to Ripley, NY in 1977 and later moved to North East, PA. She worked for a number of years as a security guard at Welch’s until her retirement. Kitty was outgoing and friendly and loved by all.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Shirley Hamill; brother, Sonny Whitesell; sister, Faye Clawson; and son, Johnny McCurdy.

She is survived by her daughter, Robin Dowling (Daniel); sister, Cathy Edwards (Tracy); son, James Frederick Glasser Jr; and daughter, Heather Glasser, and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
