Eugene V Groves

Eugene V. Groves, age 73, of North East, passed away on Saturday September 7, 2024 at UPMC Hamot.

He was born on April 15, 1951 in Erie, Pennsylvania to the late Wellington Eugene and Florence I. (Dearborn) Groves.

Gene graduated from North East in 1969 and was formerly employed by Electric Materials in the maintenance department.

He was an active member of the Greenfield Baptist Church in North East.

Gene loved spending time with his grandchildren, working on the dairy and grape farms, tractors, and helping others in need.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Christine Groves; and brother, Ronald Groves.

Gene is survived by his wife of 53 years Patricia D. (Russell) Groves whom he married June 8, 1971; children, Tracy J. Neff (Gus) and Paul E. Groves (Kristine); brothers, Gordon R. Groves, David M. Groves (Rebecca), Michael G. Groves (Janet), Randall T. Groves (Tina), and Timothy P. Groves (Tracie); sisters, Linda Keller (Samuel), Sue Ann Groves (Andy), and Kara I. Reich (Steven); grandchildren, Gabriella (Michael), August (Lexi), Ethan, David, and Maddy; and many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East on Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and are invited to attend a funeral service at the Greenfield Baptist Church, 9028 Williams Road, North East on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. Officiating the service is Pastor Dan Cass.
