Eric Steven Boland

Eric Steven Boland, age 57, of Leechburg, Pennsylvania, passed away on July 30, 2024.

He was born on December 16, 1966 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania to James M. Boland and the late Catherine M. (Bahm) Boland.

Eric graduated from North East High School in 1984 and attended Clarion University from 1984-1986 with a concentration in Theater and Technical Design.

He moved to Hilton Head, SC in 1988 and began his career at the Savannah Civic Center in Savannah, Georgia as a stagehand for concerts (R.E.M., Metallica, Amy Grant) and

theatrical productions (Cats, A Chorus Line). From 1993-2010, Eric lived in Los Angeles, CA and worked as a gaffer and best boy for film and television. During this work, he traveled to Guangzhou, China, Arrowhead Lake, CA, and San Antonio, TX. Eric had great respect in the industry and often worked for some directors on several films at their request.

Eric also worked in the restaurant industry as a cook when he lived in State College, PA, Jacksonville, FL, North East, PA, and Leechburg, PA. After his early retirement due to disability, he worked as a tutor/mentor for his nephew, Joshua.

He was an avid sports fan especially baseball and was a devoted LA Dodgers fan. Eric’s hobbies included: watching movies and television, listening to and talking about music, reading crime novels, and jigsaw puzzles. He also enjoyed hot weather, walks, coffee, and cats.

To his friends and family, Eric was known for his great sense of humor and ability to make everyone laugh. As he faced many challenges in his life, Eric always chose to be joyful and was a friend to everyone he met.

He is survived by his father, James M. Boland; brothers, James Boland Jr. (Susan), Jeffrey Boland (Patricia), and Fr. Patrick "Gregory" Boland; sisters, Cathy Ann Boland, Diane Kirk (Steve), and Christine Boland; nephews, Justin Boland, Michael George, Michael Boland, Jared Boland, Jonathan Boland, Brady Boland, and Joshua Kirk; nieces, Jessica Boland, Michelle (Boland) Ledford, and Meghan (Boland) Edel; longtime friend, Kathy Shoemaker (Ryan & Shelby).

Private funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the William D Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East.  Inurnment at Subiaco Abbey Columbarium.
