Elaine Edna Young

The Angel Band received another hallowed member on August 26, 2022. Elaine Young passed away in the loving care of Nugent’s Nursing Home in Hermitage, Pennsylvania.

Elaine’s passion was to bring happiness to all that knew her by sharing her gift and love for music. For more than 30 years Elaine starred in the Penn Ohio Button Box Club touring throughout the Northeastern United States. Born on September 18, 1931, she began her career playing for dances in her teen years calling her great pleasure having the opportunity to share the stage with her brother Norman. Elaine also spent many years as a popular tour guide, leading numerous trips to Branson, Missouri, Nashville, Tennessee, and Shipshewana, Indiana to name a few.

Elaine is preceded in death by her father and mother, Howard and Edna Yost, her brother and his wife Norman and Mary Lou Yost, and her brother-in-law and his wife, Marshal and Ellen Young.  She is survived by her loving husband and constant companion of 66 years, Dr. Arthur David Young, whom she married at the Union City Presbyterian Church on March 3, 1956, her son Robert and his wife Elizabeth and her grand children Jennifer and Jonathon, her son Douglas, her nieces Bonnie Hall and Becky Van Riper, and nephews Blaine Yost, Richard Young and his wife Judy, and Alan Young and his wife Michelle.

The Young family would like to thank Nugent’s Nursing Home for their continuous support and attention throughout her stay. The family would ask that any donations be made to the Union City Presbyterian Church, 37 West High Street, Union City, Pennsylvania, 16438.

Friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East on Wednesday from 12:00 P.M. till 2:00 P.M. Private interment will be held at Evergreen Cemetery. Please send condolences to elkinfh.com.
