Eileen (Shunk) Sharer, 95, of North East, passed away on Saturday January 10, 2026 at LECOM Rehabilitation Center.
She was born on June 28, 1930 in North East, PA to the late Edward Shunk and Ruby (Baker) Shunk LeSuer.
Eileen graduated from North East High School in 1948 and worked at General Electric in the refrigerator assembly line for several years. She was also employed at Schubeck Studios and at fax Photographic Studios where she did hand-coloring of senior portraits.
She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in North East where she was involved with Orange Point, taught Sunday School, and served as deaconess.
Eileen was a member of the Erie Crafters Guild where she enjoyed sewing and making friends. She loved spending time with her family and camping at the lake. Additionally, she was a great cook and enjoyed looking at cookbooks. She also enjoyed reminiscing through family photographs.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph H. Sharer, Jr.; brothers, Edward Shunk, Donald Shunk and wife Margaret, and Gilbert and Larry LeSuer; and step-father, Walter LeSuer.
Eileen is survived by her sons, Dennis Harold Sharer (Diane) of North East and Matthew Jay Sharer of Erie; daughter Nancy Jo Anderson (Randall) of North East; sister-in-law, Lucille Shunk of North East; grandchildren, Nicholas (Bradley), Holly (Matt), Kelly, Lauren (Kevin), Gregory, and Leah (Josh); great-grandchildren, Hannah, Savannah, Isaac, Skylar, and Kaysen, Lincoln, Parker, Kolton, Ryder and Maranatha; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends and family may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East on Friday, January 16 from 2:00 p.m. until time of a funeral service at 4:00 p.m. Officiating the service is Rev. John Stoddard. Private interment will be held at North East Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 43 South Lake Street, North East, PA 16428 or the Community Nursing Services of North East, 7 Park Street, North East, PA 16428.
