Edward Krause Obituary

Edward S. Krause, 67, of North East passed away on Sunday, April 4, 2021, at St. Vincent’s Hospital. He was born on July 14, 1953, in Ventura, Calif., the son of the late Willis C. and Gertrude (Bielo) Krause. Ed graduated from Ripley Central School in 1971 and was a gifted mechanic. Over the years, he worked for The Electric Materials Company (TEMCO) and as service manager for Cunningham’s of North East and North East Motors. He also worked for Stars & Bars Aircraft, Huntington, IN restoring vintage aircraft, specifically T-6 aircraft, used during WWII for pilot training. Ed was a private pilot and well-known among the local aircraft community. He was a sought-after aircraft mechanic and builder, and repaired and re-built many experimental airplanes. Ed loved to build and fly RC models. He was a member of the Thermal G Club, Millcreek, Pa. He passed his love of all kinds of flying and much of his knowledge of it on to his eldest son and grandsons. He also loved fishing, baseball, and softball He coached his sons and then played and coached for the Erie Codgers. Most of all, he was a proud dad and granddad, and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, especially fishing with them and watching his grandsons play ball. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his in-law,  Jane Trippy, with whom he was very close. He is survived by his wife, Karen D. Krause; children, Alex E. (Janet) Krause of Oklaho- ma City, OK, Jennifer K. Fisher of North East, Pa- trick F. Krause of Spring Lake, MI; beloved grandchildren, Andrew and Anthony Krause, and Alex- andra Fisher; son-in-law, Steven Fisher of North East; brothers LJ (Theresa) Krause, Fred Krause; several nieces and nephews; and his faithful companion, Gunner. Everyone who knew Ed knew that he was always the life of the party, made friends everywhere he went, and no one was safe from practical jokes when he was around. Ed did not want a sad funeral; in true Ed style he wanted a party in his honor. As such, there will be no service at this time; rather, there will be a celebration of life party for his friends and family at a later date. Memorials may be made to Wings of Rescue, a non-profit organization that flies at-risk shelter pets to shelters with empty kennel space, P.O Box 6045, La Quinta, CA 92248. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East, Pa.
