Donald Max Meabon

Donald Max Meabon, age 90, of North East, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday May 11, 2025 surrounded by his family.

He was born on April 28, 1935 in Edinboro, Pennsylvania to the late Arthur and Leola (Hall) Meabon.

Don graduated from Wattsburg High School and later developed a lime hauling business.

Farming was Don's passion in life. In 1955 he established Longview Acres Dairy Farm in North East which he owned and operated for 67 years until retirement.

He was a faithful member of the Beaverdam Mennonite Church and loved studying the Bible and listening to his favorite hymns.

Don was a past member of the North East Junior Chamber of Commerce, Erie County Farm Bureau, and served as a state officer in the FFA for several years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ronald Meabon (Olive).

Don is survived by the love of his life, Shirley Miller Meabon whom he married August 29, 1953; children, Randy Meabon (Paula) of NC, Rick Meabon (Debra) of North East, Tamara Goble (Gary) of Green Cove Springs, FL, and Jodi Pfile (Brian) of Richmond Hill, GA; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street on Friday, May 16th from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm and Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Crossroads Fellowship Church (formerly Beaverdam Mennonite Church) Route 89, Corry. Officiating the service is Pastor Randy Carr. Interment will be held at Beaverdam Cemetery.
