Carl Spacht Obituary

Carl F. Spacht, age 93, of North East, passed away on Tuesday May 9, 2023 at Ball Pavilion. He was born on September 29, 1929 in Erie, Pennsylvania the son of the late Charles D. and Elizebeth (Porter) Spacht. Carl graduated North East High School in 1947 and was a self-employed farmer and truck driver for several years. He held office in Local FFA and State FFA and received the Keystone Farmer Degree and American Farmer Degree. Carl was also employed by Seneca Mineral for 25 years retiring in 1996 and later drove truck for Superior Walls. He was a faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church in North East where he served as a church Elder, Deacon, and Trustee. Carl was also a member of the North East American Legion Post 105, the Brotherhood of St. Joseph Club, Company 3, and was a Boy Scouts of America troop leader for several years. He had been affiliated with Boy Scouts of America French Creek Council since 1965 and received their highest degree for volunteers, the Silver Beaver Award. Carl was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joan Spacht; and brothers, John, Merle, and Robert Spacht. He survived by his sons, Stephen Spacht (Michelle) of Erie, Joseph Spacht (Sue) of North East, and Timothy Spacht (Andrea) of Jasper, GA; daughter, Marcia Regan (Tom) of North East; siblings, Sr. Irene Spacht O.S.B., Fr. Harold Spacht C.Ss.R., and Jean Gulley; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. The family wishes to thank Ball Pavilion for their compassion and professionalism throughout Carl's care. Friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East on Friday May 12 th from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church. Officiating the service is Rev. Gregg D. Townsend. Interment will be held at North East Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church 25 West Main Street, North East 16428.
