Brian "BJ" J Skalos

Brian J. (BJ) Skalos, age 68 of North East passed away from complications of dementia at Lecom Parkside North East Memory Care Unit on August 26, 2024.

He was born on July 8, 1956 in Corry, PA, the son of the late Joseph Skalos and June (Long) Skalos Glavis.         

He belonged proudly to the PA National Guard, retiring after 20 years as E-7 Staff Sargent.

Brian was a skilled Laborer working as a welder and commercial tester for General Electric, Ridg-u-Rak, Wabtec and many others. 

He enjoyed being with family, friends, watching movies and NHRA racing.  He loved MOPAR cars especially the Superbee, Charger and Challenger.  Grilling and mowing the lawn were his passions.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his stepfather Peter Glavis, sister Sharon Skalos Steele and nephew Shane Steele.

He is survived by his wife Debra (Luke) Skalos; one brother, Steven (Sandy) Skalos; 2 sons; Joseph and Aaron (Nicole) Skalos; grandchildren, Hailey, Tyra, Andrew, Avery, Delaney, Trevor, and Alexa; many nieces, great nieces, nephews, great nephews and cousins.

Following Brian’s wishes, there will be no visiting hours or service.  A private burial will be at the North East Cemetery at the convenience of his family under the care of Elkins Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Brian’s honor may be made to the McCord Memorial Library, 32 West Main Street, North East, PA 16428.

Private funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East, PA 16428.
