Brenda Mae (Hamilton) Cornelius

Brenda Mae Hamilton Cornelius, age 78, passed away peacefully on March 1, 2023, at her home in North East, PA, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Brenda was born on June 28, 1944, in Orbisonia, PA, to Hank and Phyllis Hamilton.  She was raised by her aunt and uncle, Dick and Martha Hamilton in Mapelton Depot, PA.

She had previously worked at Welch Foods, McMillan Pie Factory, the North East School District and later at Phillips Ultrasound.

Brenda did everything with honesty and integrity.  She had strong values and was well liked by everyone she met, mostly due to her positive energy.

She leaves a huge hole in the hearts of her family and friends who were always entertained by her hilarious sense of humor.  She brought a bounty of beauty to everything she did.  From her arts and crafts to her smile and her unbounded love.

Brenda is now at peace in Heaven, with her Lord, Jesus Christ.  She joins her parents and older sister, Janice; her brothers Frank and Steve; her son, Ronald Cornelius and granddaughter, Shaina Hernandez.  What a glorious reunion that will be!

Brenda is survived by daughters, Candace (Mike) Cornelius; Rhonda (Eddie) Cornelius; Crystal Cornelius and grandchildren she helped raise, Siarra Cornelius and Spencer Cornelius (Erin).  She is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren.

She leaves behind sisters, Wanda (Steve) Dolin; Donna (Duane) Park; Mary Lou (Rich) Park; brothers, David (Sandra) Hamilton; Dale (Cora) Hamilton; and best friend and caregiver, Marci Smith.

Thanks go out to the Community Nurses, Hospice of North East and All in Your Home Care, especially Teila Sargeant, who has been helping in the care of Brenda for the last 3 ½ years.

Friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East, PA on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. and are invited to attend a Funeral Service on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Orchard Beach Assembly, 2025 Orchard Beach Road, North East.  Officiating the service is Pastor Tammy Yukon. Private interment at North East Cemetery.
