Betty (Borstorff) Swoger

Betty (Borstorff) Swoger, age 96, of North East, passed away on Monday June 20, 2022, at Nightingale Nursing Home in Erie. She was born on November 24, 1925 in Jamestown, New York the daughter of the late Orrin Borstorff and Gladys (Peterson) Borstorff Wagner. Betty graduated North East High School and was formerly employed by General Electric and G.C. Murphy's in North East for several years. She also managed Rusterholtz Bakery. Betty was a member of the Orchard Beach Assembly Church where she enjoyed attending church and reading her Bible. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren, knitting, crocheting, crafts, and puzzles. Betty will be sadly missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dearth A. Swoger (9-19-2014); a brother, David Wagner; and step-father, Richard Wagner. Betty is survived by her children; Thomas Swoger of Ripley, Terry Swoger of North East, Connie Rupczyk (John) of Westfield, and Joyce Kelly (Tim) of Brocton, N.Y.; a sister, Allene Rusterholtz of Minnesota; grandchildren, Chris, John, Danille, Amy, Matt, Kim, Courtney, Wendi, and Brooke; 15 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East on Thursday July 7, 2022 from 3:00 P.M. until time of a Memorial Service at 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Officiating the service is Pastor Troy Keith. Private interment will be held at Grahamville Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Ripley Hose Company #1, 12 S State Street, Ripley, N.Y., 14775.
