Bettie V (Volk) Rizzo

Bettie V. (Volk) Rizzo, age 91, of North East, passed away on Thursday July 8, 2021 at her residence. She was born on April 27, 1930 in Waterford, Pennsylvania to the late Burdette H. and Edythe (Chelton) Volk. She graduated Corry High School and was formerly employed as a clerical secretary for the North East District Magistrate for 25 years. Bettie was a member of the C3 Church in Harborcreek. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles, reading, gardening, and spending time with her family. Bettie was preceded in death by her husband Louis P. Rizzo; a  sister-in-law, Ann Volk; and a brother-in-law, Ronald Frontroth. She is survived by her children, Dennis Rizzo (Mary) of Lawrence Park, Gary Rizzo (Sandy) of North East, and Paula Gibbs (Russell) of Erie; a brother, Ronald M. Volk (Mae) of Aikon, S.C.; sisters, Leona Frontroth of Aikon, S.C. and Marion Parmenter (Larry) of North East; grandchildren, Karen, Tim, Kendrick, Brandon, Val, Nathan, Renee, Christian, and David; 16 great- grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; also several nieces and nephews. Bettie’s family would like to acknowledge the sincere professionalism and heartfelt care given by the Community Nursing Services of North East Hospice during her illness. Friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East, on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and are invited to attend a funeral service on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
