Barry A. Brumett, age 47, of Erie, formerly of North East, passed away on Friday, June 25, 2021, surrounded by his family. He was born on September 23, 1973 in Erie, Pa., to Joyce (Irvin) Brumett and the late Samuel Brumett. Barry graduated from North East High School in 1992 and was employed by Liberty Iron and Metal in Erie. Barry had been an avid wrestler in high school, so he enjoyed spending time volunteering with the North East Little Wrestlers. Moving on, Barry pursued his love of Amateur Motocross racing with his father and nephew in his Pit Crew. For years, Barry then began helping his younger brother, Kevin race dirt track cars. Switching gears to something much slower, was his love of cooking and his charcoal grill, where a simple cheeseburger would take three hours. Family and friends would laugh and remember Barry’s 40 pound lasagnas! Our Sugar Bear will surely be missed by all, especially his brothers, Brian and Kevin. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his children Brittany and Justin Brumett; the mother of his children, Melissa Brumett; his brothers, Brian Brumett (Tracy) and Kevin Brumett (Dawn); sister-in- law, Cheryl Brumett; nephews, Eric, Brandon, Jake; and a niece, Paige. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ragin Raisins Wrestling Club, raginraisinswrestling@ hotmail.com. Private interment will be St. Gregory’s Cemetery. Private funeral arrangements are being handled by the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East. Private interment will be held at St. Gregory Cemetery.
