Barbara (Prichard) Brown

Barbara (Prichard) Brown, age 76, of North East, PA passed away on Thursday November 2, 2023 at UPMC Hamot.

She was born on November 3, 1946 in Erie, PA the daughter of the late Lloyd O. and Mary (Dickey) Prichard.

Barbara graduated North East High School in 1964 and was formerly employed by Tustin Ice Cream and G.C. Murphy Co. in North East until their doors closed.

She also babysat for many families over the years and enjoyed all the children and every minute of it.

Barbara enjoyed crocheting blankets, especially baby blankets for all of the new babies in the family.

She cooked many meals on Sundays for her family to enjoy. Barbara loved having her family together.

Her passion in the fall was canning spaghetti sauce, tomatoes, and Dilly Beans. During the winter months she made several cookie trays to share with her family and friends.

She was an avid reader and a patron of the local library.

She loved all of her family but her true love was her husband, Fred whom she married on February 15, 1964.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; son, Philip Lloyd Brown; brothers, Daniel Prichard and William Dickey; and sisters, Betty Coburn and Joyce Christ and special nephew Randy.

She is survived by her husband, Fred Brown, Sr.; son, Fred Brown, Jr. (Diane); brother, Thomas K. Prichard (Deanna) of Erie ; sisters, Joan Bemiss (Lloyd) of North East and Yvonne Nodes of Harborcreek; and grandson Lucas Brown (Hailey) of Edinboro. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews that she held close to her heart.

Family and friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. until time of a funeral service at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
