Anne M. O'Leary, 78, of North East passed away on Tuesday October 28, 2025 at UPMC Hamot.
She was born on May 17, 1947 in Erie, PA to the late Dr. Marcellus Raymond and Irene Miriam (Willson) O'Leary.
Anne graduated from St. Gregory High School, University of Rochester, and Edinboro University earning a M.Ed. degree and certificate in school psychology.
In her early years she was first employed as a buyer at the former Higbee’s Department Store in Cleveland, OH. She then went on to become a school psychologist at Westfield High School and Ripley Central for several years where she found fulfillment in helping students reach their potential until her retirement.
Anne’s greatest devotions were to her faith and her family — and her many dear friends who became family along the way. A steadfast member of St. Gregory Parish, she held a special love for the Blessed Mother and faithfully prayed the Rosary. She delighted in bringing others together in prayer, offering her home as a place to grow faith and community. Anne trusted in God’s miracles and sharing signs of God’s beauty and presence through her photography.
Anne cherished her family greatly and faithfully took on the role of Godmother for several of her nieces sharing not only her love but also her steadfast faith. She never missed a chance to make life a little sweeter—especially with a chocolate milkshake.
Anne was welcomed into heaven by her parents; sisters, Irene Katherine O'Leary, Marcia O'Leary, and Louise Wilson; sister-in-law, Barbara O'Leary; brother-in-law, William D. Ring; and nephews, Michael Ring and Matthew O'Leary.
She is survived by her brothers, Dr. Robert J. O'Leary, James O'Leary (Marilyn), George O'Leary (Sandy), and Dr. Joseph M. O'Leary (Kim); sisters, Patricia Ring and Rebecca Devine (David); and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Private funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake St, North East, PA 16418. Private interment will be held at St. Gregory Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Mass requests in memory of Anne may be made to St. Gregory Church, 136 West Main Street, North East, PA 16418.
