Ann Ahlgrim Obituary

Ann B. Ahlgrim, 87, of North East, PA, died February 15, 2022. She was the daughter of Dr. Edmund B (Bucky) and Ann E Buckalew. She was born December 5, 1934 in Pittsburgh, PA. She grew up in Girard, PA, where her father was the town doctor. She enjoyed summers as a teenager at their cottage on Lake Erie, and working at Camp Caledon. She attended Battles Memorial School in Girard, and furthered her education at Houghton College. After college, she worked at Westminister Presbyterian Church in Erie, PA, where she met her husband to be, Jim who she married in 1958. Over the years she worked as a substitute teacher in the North East school district, taught at Heritage Christian Academy, and worked as a comparison shopper for K-Mart. She was everyone’s favorite teacher because of her sense of humor, introducing many to her love of literature and the English language. She enjoyed volunteering at Brevillier Village. She was a state coordinator for Macedonia Ministries and volunteered yearly at the Wycliffe Bible Translators Institute in Dallas, TX, perpetuation her lifelong passion for Christian education and church libraries. She was an active 46 year member of Praise Cathedral in North East, being a long time member of the choir, and creator and coordinator of the church library. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Edmund Buckalew, and a son Bradley A. Ahlgrim. She is survived by her husband of 63 years James, her children Dirk Ahlgrim (Jolene) of Columbus, OH, Valerie Greishaw (Don) of North East, and Lars Ahlgrim (Lolly) of Greenville, TX, 14 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren. As per her wishes, there will be no viewing or funeral service. A celebration of life memorial service is being planned for June 11, 2022, in North East.
