Amy Diane (Vilella) Sanchez

Amy Diane Vilella Sanchez, age 56, of North East, passed away on Tuesday March 29, 2022 at her residence from heart failure. She was born on August 11, 1965 the daughter of Janet Reid Vilella of North East and the late Angelo Vilella. Amy graduated Ripley Central High School and formerly was employed by Welch Foods, the North East American Legion, Needle in a Haystack Retreat and currently at Muscarella Farms and Meeder’s Restaurant. Despite Amy’s health issues she was a devoted mother to her children and was always lending a helping hand to others in need. She loved to travel and enjoyed meeting new people. When you were a friend of Amy’s you were family. She always wanted to take care of everyone around her; whether it was making food or taking someone to a doctor’s appointment, she was a dependable mother, friend and daughter.

Amy was preceded in death by her father; and brothers, Phillip Luis Vilella and William Anthony Vilella. She is survived by her mother; daughter, Shoechelle Zelaya (Jordan) of Clymer, NY; son, Ozzy Zelaya of Atlanta, GA; brothers, Augustine “Gus” Joseph Vilella of York, PA and Frederick “Fred” Joseph (Donna) Vilella of Rogers, AR; sister, Renee Elizabeth Straley (John) of York, PA; step-brother, Danny Sugden of Coaldale, PA; sister-in-law Sherry Vilella of North East; niece, Brittney Vilella (Josh); and nephew, Brett Vilella, Ex-Husband Fidencio Zelaya and nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the William D. Elkin Funeral Home, 65 South Lake Street, North East on Friday from 3:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. and are invited to attend a funeral service on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Friends are welcome to join family at the Brotherhood of St. Joes after the service for a luncheon from 12:30- 3 after the service. Officiating the service is Rev. Stephen Rhoades.
